Appearance: It's unusual for a boy to be described as "beautiful", but for Jadeite, the adjective isn't entirely untrue. He is very much the 'pretty boy', and often teased for such. The youngest of the shitennou, he still has something of a baby face. His eyes bear the typical asian slant, but they're a bit rounder and a brilliant blue color. His pale golden-blonde hair is cut somewhat short in the back, and falls in loose curls over his ears and forehead. Jadeite is the shortest of the shitennou, about 5'6. He has a boyish figure; slender and not very developed.

Jadeite typically wears his shitennou uniform. In fact, he's rarely seen in anything else. The uniform is primarily black and consists of a jacket with a nehru collar featuring small gold dragon details on either side of the front opening, red piping, and an asymmetrical front which closes on the right side with detailed closures typical of certain chinese attire. The jacket features a belt, with a black buckle. The sleeves feature detailing with small red beads. A wide gold guard with a rather peculiar design covers the left shoulder and holds in place a thin pleated mantle that falls to his knees. Trousers are tucked into knee-high boots. He also wears a pair of white gloves.

Personality: Unlike the other three shitennou, Jadeite's personality changed drastically when he was reawakened by Queen Beryl and his memories suppressed. He seemed to forget entirely how to smile. Happiness is not something that the youngest shitennou knows any longer. He's bitter, sarcastic, vicious and unforgiving. He takes pleasure in the faults and failures of fellow shitennou Nephrite. He is quick to follow Kunzite only if he believes it will benefit his plans. While Jadeite distrusts Zoisite, it is not an uncommon thing for the young man. The only person he trusts is Beryl, and even that has been tested.

Jadeite is stubborn and follows through in all he does. He is wholly loyal to Queen Beryl, and acts entirely on her behalf. He is obedient and accepting of most of her actions, even those unacceptable to others.

Abilities/Strengths: Jadeite is deadly in close combat. He is proficient with two ice daggers that he can summon at will and relatively good with hand-to-hand, with impressive acrobatic abilities he utilizes in combat. The shitennou is also clever, despite his young age. Another ability Jadeite possesses is the ability to extensively control the power granted to him by Metalia. He can summon creatures called youma to do his bidding. The other shitennou are not quite as apt at this as Jadeite. Additionally, Jadeite can use Metalia's powers to draw energy from the earth.

Weaknesses: Jadeite has trouble trusting anyone, even those he is closest to, which can bring about trouble for the youngest shitennou. Despite this, he can be gullible on occasion, especially when it regards doing something for Beryl. He can be persuaded into doing things in her name he would otherwise not consider. Perhaps in a way, Beryl is Jadeite's greatest weakness. He is careless with himself, and acts blindly for her love. Another weakness Jadeite shows relatively often is his stubbornness. Once he forms an opinion or makes a decision, it's difficult to change his mind.

Despite the shitennou's proficiency in summoning youma, Jadeite is perhaps one of the weaker members of the Dark Kingdom. He can use some spectral attacks, but at a cost. They weaken him physically after only a little use. This is the reason he can not properly use soul flight.

History: Jadeite's past was once a beautiful one. It was beautiful for everyone of the Earth and Moon. Two peaceful kingdoms, co-existing separately from each other. But all good things must come to an end, and peace is bound to end perhaps sooner than most of any other 'good thing'.

Jealousy began stirring in small waves through the Earth's people, stirring among particular circles. The people of the Moon Kingdom seemed to possess endless good fortune: beauty, prosperity, longivity. Surprisingly, or perhaps not as it is human nature to believe that one's self surely has it worse than the next person, jealousy of the Earth also existed. The Princess Serenity, hailed for her beauty, envied the Earth Kingdom because they had one thing she didn't: the handsome Prince Endymion. The Princess would sneak to Earth (travel between the two kingdoms was simple in those times), and hide here and there simply for a glimpse of the prince. Eventually, inevitably, Endymion found the girl out. That day, fate's tireless wheel began turning. The Prince and Princess fell hopelessly in love, despite opposition on all sides. The senshi, guardians of Serenity, and the shitennou, Endymion's protectors, disagreed in earnest with the romance between the two royals.

The youngest of the four shitennou answered to the name of Jadeite, given for his precious stone that gave him power. Some said it was destiny that chose him to protect Endymion along with Kunzite, Zoisite and Nephrite. Whatever the case, Jadeite's loyalty lay deep with Endymion and his comrades. He argued like brothers with Nephrite, the next youngest, and sometimes found their leader Kunzite a bit strict. Despite the differences they found between themselves, the shitennou and the Prince had been happy. But now, with the Princess slowly but surely coming between master and guardians, Jadeite was not the only one of the four generals at a loss for what to think.

Feelings towards the Moon Kingdom grew steadily more and more bitter. War broke out, and no one seemed to be able to pinpoint where it came from. Even in the face of his people's destructions, Endymion remained with the Princess in her palace. Unbeknownst to him, the shitennou were on Earth, faithfully defending Endymion's crumbling palace, even without it's Prince. Death claimed Nephrite, Zoisite and Jadeite in turn, while Endymion would never know of their sacrifice in that lifetime.

Struck down while defending the Princess from an assassination attempt, Endymion became the reason for the Earth's ultimate destruction. Serenity unleashed the power of the ginzuishou, and the Moon, the Earth, and the four senshi's kingdoms were all lost to the burning light. The solar system became a dead one, floating for an infinite time, cold.

It was centuries later, long after the tragedy had been forgotten and Earth was again populated that the shitennou were reborn. A highschooler working honestly at various part-time jobs with no memory of who he was, Jadeite was awakened to serve Queen Beryl, now the ruler of the Dark Kingdom. She had once been a palace girl in the Earth Kingdom, watching and longing for Endymion unnoticed and unacknowledged. Not as powerful as the other three, fully under her spell and easily influenced, Jadeite's memories of the past life did not resurface. At first, the youngest shitennou's service to his queen was mindlessly obedient.

Jadeite's task was relatively simple: gather energy for Metalia, the entity fueling and amplifying Queen Beryl's powers and the method by which the woman intended to rule the world. The mission became quickly complicated when Sailormoon was awakened and began interfering. Also awakened to help combat this impertinence was Nephrite, who was also fiercely loyal to Beryl and vied for her love, and later Zoisite, the aloof third shitennou that graced the Dark Kingdom's halls with echoing and somewhat eerie melodies with his piano. Still, he held the technique known as Soul Flight, which Jadeite felt could prove useful to his plans. He asked Zoisite to send him to where Sailormoon and her companions were; Zoisite obliged. Unaware of the dangers Soul Flight had, Jadeite expended too much energy and Beryl returned him to his stone form to regain his powers.

When Jadeite reawakened, Beryl had brought the fourth shitennou, Kunzite, into their ranks. Kunzite was brash and rude, and claimed his loyalty not to Beryl, but Metalia. Feeling that the man was unworthy of Beryl's favor, Jadeite rather disliked his newest 'ally'. Soon after, Kunzite brought one of the sailor senshi under his control and to the Dark Kingdom. Once Sailormercury, the newly christened 'Mercury' was loud and annoying, and just as impudent towards Beryl as her captor. Jadeite largely stayed away from them, except to spy on them with the purpose of reporting any direct betrayal to Beryl. This proved futile, as the Queen overlooked most of the things Kunzite and his new senshi did or said.

Kunzite did entrust Jadeite with some of his plans, even while Mercury was in the Dark Kingdom. Jadeite reported to Beryl that Kunzite suspected Sailorvenus wasn't the real princess, and accompanied him to lure out the real princess. The plan went a further than they intended, and not only was Sailormoon revealed as the Princess, but the Princess awoke and used the ginzuishou, which only powered Metalia further. Jadeite became determined to get the ginzuishou from the Princess for Beryl. Mercury left the Dark Kingdom soon after and returned to the senshi. Jadeite saw it as little loss.

As Metalia grew stronger, the senshi did too. Their bonds became stronger, while the Dark Kingdom seemed to be falling apart with only Beryl's hold on them all keeping them in the same vicinity. Words began being exchanged between the three elder shitennou, words that Jadeite didn't understand. They were speaking of a past life he (and apparently Nephrite) had no recollection of.

Beryl too seemed to know of and remember this past life, she also harbored feelings from it, for the man Zoisite called Master and Jadeite only knew as Tuxedo Kamen or Chiba Mamoru. Jadeite found himself standing on a field in the middle of nowhere one day, the other shitennou with him and Beryl behind him, and the Princess and senshi opposite them. For reasons he didn't immediately understand, Jadeite found his own dagger to his throat and unable to pull it away from himself. Beryl wanted Endymion, and would sacrifice the shitennou -- even Jadeite, she said -- if he didn't come to her. Chiba Mamoru came, but at the expense of Nephrite. Horrified, Jadeite watched as Nephrite turned his sword on himself at Beryl's will and stabbed himself through the stomach.

Mamoru returned with Beryl and the three remaining shitennou to the Dark Kingdom.

It took time before Jadeite recovered from the shock of Nephrite's death. Nephrite had been nothing but loyal to Beryl, and still she had forced him to kill himself. Did she think so little of him as well? Still he obeyed her without question, going so far as to implant a life-draining stone into the 'Master'. Zoisite managed to awake glimpses of memories in Jadeite's mind, but they did little to sway the shitennou from his convictions.

Kunzite broke from Beryl's spell somehow. Zoisite was killed soon after, defending the Princess of all people. More of Jadeite's memories were unlocked from where they had been held back by Beryl's spell. Metalia became stronger, and Mamoru took it into himself to supress it and keep it from destroying the planet, then left the Dark Kingdom.

With orders to destroy Mamoru, Beryl sent Jadeite to where Endymion was fighting and already wounded Kunzite. Despite his injury, Kunzite managed to get the upper hand. Jadeite stepped in to help Kunzite kill Endymion. At the last minute, however, Kunzite protected Endymion and took the blade's attack himself. Horrified that he was the cause of the death of the last shitennou by himself, Jadeite fled back to Beryl's side.

Jadeite was not present when Endymion lost control of Metalia and Sailormoon was forced to kill him, but when he found Beryl staring at Endymion's dead body with the Princess staring blankly at him, it wasn't hard to guess. The Princess transformed, and the Dark Kingdom literally began falling apart around them.

In the audience room, Jadeite warned the Queen that the Dark Kingdom was collapsing. She paid no heed, and instead told him she was done playing queen and removed the curse. There was a moment of bewilderment, then Jadeite made the decision of his own will that Beryl was his master. After confirming her accusation that he too was a fool for staying, Jadeite reached up to take Beryl's outstretched hand as the Dark Kingdom fell to rubble.
